Marriott's Coronado Island Resort & Spa |
Our
experience at the Coronado Island Resort & Spa was much like enjoying a
savory fruit pealing back the layers revealing one pleasurable experience after
another.
Beautiful Settings |
Luxury Room with Plush Bed |
Mini-Spa In Room Bathroom |
As you check
into your room, you can’t miss the abundant amount of space and outdoor balcony
to relax and move around (see photo). The upgraded bathrooms with the oversized tub, comfy
robes, and premium bath products offer a mini spa experience without leaving
your room (see photo). The Wi-Fi Internet worked well and the innovative Internet TV allows
you to keep up on the latest from your personal Netflix and Hulu accounts. The
new plush beds are so comfortable we had a hard time getting out but with so
many resort attractions to enjoy, we didn’t want to miss out.
Main Pool and Whirlpool |
We started
our relaxing stay with a dip in the outdoor pool and whirlpool spa and lounged overlooking
San Diego’s beautiful bay (see photo). Of course, a cool drink from the outdoor bar
complimented the experience.
Current Restaurant |
Having
dinner at the Current Restaurant
overlooking the bay is a highly recommended delight (see photo). The executive chef has
designed healthy dining options throughout the resort including a custom-made
Wellness Bento Box on the spa menu.
Tennis Courts - Wellness Fitness Center |
The newly
renovated 6,000 square-foot two-story wellness
fitness center has tennis courts (see photo), a lap swimming pool, basketball court, pickle
ball courts, and state-of-the-art fitness equipment. Because it is also a
membership club, professional group and private fitness classes are available
to guests.
Morning Yoga by San Diego Bay |
Yoga fans will enjoy a
wonderful sunrise or sunset experience on the lawn in a beautiful bay front
setting (see photo) from a lovely and very experienced instructor.
Wonderful Massage - Luxury Spa |
If you
don’t feel like having a workout, do not miss the 5,500 square foot luxury spa where we received one of the
best massages we have even had (see photo). Before or after this experience, you can spend
additional time relaxing in the tranquil relaxation room as well as the outdoor
spa garden to enjoy the wonderful Southern California weather. Finish up in the
eucalyptus steam room – very nice.
Wayne Biking to Coronado Beach |
We liked
taking the resort bikes for a ride to
the Coronado Beach and Hotel Del (see photo). Coronado’s bike paths made our afternoon
safe and a treat – Coronado Island is beautiful and the homes are very nice to
see. Other activities are offered such as beach walks, kayaking, and meditation.
Located Near San Diego's Famous Gaslamp District |
Marriott’s
Coronado Island Resort is located just minutes from Coronado Beach, the
famed Hotel Del Coronado, and San Diego’s famous downtown Gaslamp District where there
is an abundance of nightlife for all ages. It is easy walking distant to
shopping and fine dining at Coronado’s Ferry Landing.
Hotel Del Coronado |
For those
who plan to stay for more than a short relaxing get-away, San Diego has lots of wonderful attractions - home of the world
famous San Diego Zoo (it is wonderful), Safari Park, Sea World, Legoland, art
and anthropology museums in pretty Balboa Park, beautiful La Jolla, downtown
Gaslamp Quarter, many great beaches, Padres baseball, amazingly diverse dining
and shopping, and much more.
Old Town Trolley - San Diego Gaslamp District |
San Diego’s
Old Town Trolley, a hop on / hop off small bus-like vehicle, goes
to many of San Diego's attractions where you can get on and off and visit a
number of fun and interesting places (i.e. downtown Gaslamp Quarter,
Embarcadero (Star of India & USS Midway Museum), Hotel Del Coronado, Seaport Village,
Balboa Park, Old Town, Little Italy). It is fun just to ride
it because the drivers give a fun history of San Diego.
