Paros Greek Island, Greece (6/4-8/2009)
Paros is a beautiful Greek Island offering everything you could want from a Greek Island.
We found a wonderful place right on Livadia Beach (Hotel Livadia) next to Paros’ main town (Parikia). Pat loved this place so much I had to convince her to explore the rest of Paros Island.
Leaving Livadia Beach, we rented a car and drove around the Paros (didn’t kill anyone or ourselves - a bit of a feat driving in Greece) visiting Chrissi Akto (Golden) Beach, the amazing rock formations at Kolimbithres Beach (see photo), and partied with the young folks on Santa Maria Beach.
We also discovered the local wines - Greek wines are pretty nice. Pat also had her first beer here ever (really, ever) on Paros (see photo).
We spent the next day at a beach bar on mowed grass at Livadia Beach eating ice cream and had a sunset dinner at the beautiful postcard-perfect fishing village of Naoussa where Greek cafes line the harbor area.
The Greek Islands can be quite sophisticated and Paros is a nice one to visit.

The ferry ride from Naxos was lovely - perfect day for island cruising.
Paros’ long history includes its beautiful translucent white marble highly desired by ancient sculptors. The Venus de Milo was done in marble from Paros.
